The Grand Lodge of Ohio oversees all Freemasonry within the Lodges under our jurisdiction, ensuring that every applicant meets the necessary qualifications.

You’ll receive a series of emails with details on how to become a Freemason in Ohio. What are the qualifications needed to join?

All Freemasons are held to the same standard. They must be men of good character and reputation in order to become and remain a member. To join Ohio Freemasonry, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a male at least 19 years old
  • Be an Ohio resident for at least six months
  • Be able to read and write English
  • Be prepared to profess a belief in Deity
  • Be of good reputation as a man of honor and integrity
  • Be prepared to obtain a background check if requested

How to Join Ohio Freemasonry (in 5 steps)

1. Submit Your Information – Complete the online form above with your name, email, zip code, and confirm eligibility.

2. Confirm your identify and interest by responding to an email that will be sent to you upon your submission of the online form.

3. Meet the Lodge – Attend a “get to know you” meeting with a local lodge to learn about membership and see if it’s a good fit.

4. Submit a Petition – If you choose to proceed, fill out and submit a formal petition to your local lodge.

5. Enter the Craft – Upon approval you will be initiated as an Entered Apprentice and begin your journey in Freemasonry.
