January is the month during which the Lodge inspection schedule begins in many of Ohio’s 25 Masonic Districts. The primary goal of a Lodge’s inspection is to ensure that the Lodge’s records are kept properly and that the Lodge can perform the ceremonies of initiation well. However, an equally important “side effect” of Lodge inspections are the many visitations that occur. In fact, a Lodge’s inspection is often the best attended meeting all year.
This year, the Grand Master Terry W. Posey, the Grand High Priest Donald Losasso, the Grand Illustrious Master William Laughlin and the Grand Commander S. Thomas Ramsay have agreed to attend the inspections of one another’s home Lodges, along with the Eminent Prior of Ohio Priory Pat Lively and the Scottish Rite Deputy for Ohio Neil Smalley. The schedule for these inspections is as follows.
- Science Lodge No. 50, 304 Wayne St., Sandusky, is the home Lodge of Right Worshipful Brother William Laughlin. It will be inspected on January 25 in the Master Mason degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
- John W. Durst Lodge No. 716, 525 W. Riverview Ave., Dayton, is the home Lodge of Most Worshipful Brother Terry W. Posey. It will be inspected on January 29 in the Fellow Craft degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
- Lockbourne Lodge No. 232, 206 Vause St., Lockbourne, is the home Lodge of Worshipful Brother S. Thomas Ramsay. It will be inspected on February 1 in the Entered Apprentice degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
- Orient Lodge No. 321, 108 N. St., Waverly, is the home Lodge of Worshipful Brother Donald Losasso. It will be inspected on February 4 in the Entered Apprentice degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
- Hubbard Lodge No. 220's inspection will be held at Adamsville Elementary School, 7950 East Street (State Route 93) in Adamsville. Hubbard #220 is the home Lodge of Worshipful Brother Pat Lively. It will be inspected on February 8 in the Entered Apprentice degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
- Alpha Lodge No. 729, 2251 S. Smithville Road in Kettering, is the home Lodge of Most Worshipful Brother Neil Smalley and will be inspected on March 2 in the Fellow Craft degree. Lodge will open at 7 pm.
